18 June 2008 - Yorkshire Nixon Inter-League Cricket Competition
The Dales Council Cricket League beat the Doncater/Sheffield Alliance on Sunday by six wickets to move into the second round. The match, played at Shipley Providence's ground saw us lose the toss and asked to field. Despite seeing three catches spilled in the first two overs, the opening bowlers Stuart Liddell and Ali Asghar managed to put the batsmen under sustained pressure and this was exploited by the change bowlers. Harcharan Seehra finished with figures of 4-8 as the visitors were finally dismissed for 108. New wicket keeper James Lindley-Dawe opened the batting and blazed his way to 23 before holing out to leave the side on 40-3. Captain Raghunath Chandrasekaran joined Pardhasaradhi Koduru at the crease and both players reached the 20's as the Dales Council reached the target with 19 overs in hand. Thanks go to all the players, Shipley Providence for their fine efforts in hosting the match and preparing the wicket and to Stephen Wilkes for umpiring. Scorecard to follow.
