Pool Paper Mills Cup Final
The Pool Paper Mills Cup Final was won by Rodley who defeated Pudsey Congs by nine wickets in front of a large partisan home crowd at Pudsey Congs' Britannia Ground. Congs won the toss and elected to bat on a fantastic strip but were soon in trouble. Rodley's wicket keeper Jon Hodson collected two catches and three stumpings, including the dangerous looking Paul Slater (29) and only a stubborn 35 from Gary Lewsley allowed Congs to post a score of 128. Rodley's Kiwi all-rounder, Steve Hirst picked up five wickets for just 19 runs and Mark Allinson was as frugal as ever taking 2 for 6 off his eight overs. In reply Rodley wasted little time in chasing down the score and knocked off the runs with 15 overs in hand. Stuart Kirk (31) was the only batsman dismissed as Mark Hobson (43*) and Jon Hodson (50*) won the cup for the second time in three years. Jon Hodson was awarded the Man of the Match award.
Cawthorne Cup Final
The Cawthorne Cup Final between Mount and Rodley will be held this Sunday, the 12th August at Farsley's Red Lane ground. Rodley will be looking to retain the trophy they won last year, whilst Mount are chasing their fifth victory and their first since winning their last of four consecutive finals in 2001.
Rule Changes
Clubs are reminded that any proposals to change the rules of the League need to be submitted in writing to the Secretary, Steve Bradbury before the 31st August.

Cup Finals
The Pool Paper Mills Cup Final will be held on the 5th August at Pudsey Congs as scheduled. A revised date for the Cawthorne Cup Final which is due to be held at Farsley will be announced shortly.
Forum
The League has decided to remove the forum from this site. The forum has proved a useful sounding pad for players and has been reasonably popular. Unfortunately an increase in 'pop-up' advertising, together with the perception that the forum in some cases has allowed personal feuds to be continued from one match to another.
Behaviour of Players
Captains are reminded that it is their responsibility for the conduct of their team's players. Respect and sportsmanship are an important part of cricket's tradition, and clubs should make every effort to ensure that recent cases of foul and abusive language aimed at officials and opposition players, will not be tolerated.

Inclement Weather - Weekend's Programme to be Rescheduled
Due to the persistent bad weather in our area since early this week, the League has decided to cancel all matches due to be played this weekend and to reschedule them for Sunday 19th August. The clubs and umpires are in the process of being informed. It is our belief that all grounds will be unplayable tomorrow, and that the rescheduling is in the best interest of the League and for the clubs themselves.

Junior Cricketers
ECB guidance for Junior Cricketers playing in Adult Matches, including the wearing of helmets and fielding restrictions have now been added to the Download page, alongside the new Official Team Sheet. Thanks to Gareth Walch for the information and links.
The most onerous of the new regulations being that all players in the Under 13 age group must have written consent from the a parent or guardian before playing in our league. Additionally any players from the Under 11 age group will need approving by the League Management Committee before being allowed to play. ECB rules dictate that this will only be given for exceptionally talented players after consultation with the County Age Group Coach.

Syd Marsden Trophy - Secretary's Report
A patched up League Secretary's XI played in the inaugural Syd Marsden Trophy 20/20 Competition yesterday to officially open Shipley Providence's Salts ground. In the opener against Baildon, it was former Baildon skipper Gavin Atkinson's unbeaten 50 with assistance from Shipley's Carl Ward, that set a target too large for Baildon to chase down. A good opening spell from David Belcher of Shipley Providence ensured the League team went through to play Shipley in the final.
In the final, excellent knocks by Rodley's Simon Dickens and Baildon's Darren Wilson ensured that the League side reached the target of 100 set by Shipley Providence and spoil their party. I'd like to thank Shipley for the invite and for hosting a totally enjoyable day, and to all the players who helped out, many at short notice. I shouldn't mention the three stumpings in the first game by the stand-in League keeper, but I will!

Cry for Help!
Shipley Providence are having an official opening of their new Salts Ground tomorrow and the League has entered a side for a 20 over match. Due to a couple of drops, a couple of players are needed for the match that starts at 1.00pm. If you would like to play please email mailto:s.a.bradbury@bradford.ac.uk with your telephone number and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Transport could be arranged.
